First birthday smash cake smash sessions are my absolute favorite sessions. Especially when we color outside of the lines with designing a different feel. The bohemian styled cake smash session is such a lovely theme for first birthday cake smash sessions for little girls. This theme is has so many options. Being that it is so popular, I have started to have more options and props available to ensure that each session is different.

This cake smash session took place in the studio located in Holly Springs, NC. Amanda slept for some of the ride and woke up and was ready for pictures.

Note that I said ready for pictures.. I didn’t say she was ready for a first birthday smash cake session. She, just like many of the first birthday babies, wasn’t all about the cake. She is following in her big sisters footsteps. According to Amanda’s mommy, her sister didn’t care much for cake during her cake smash session either. But the great news was that Amanda didn’t mind hamming it up for the camera. I just loved how happy she was… and how committed she was to not have any cake.

The cake was perfectly designed by the very lovely and talented Baked by Billie. With the bohemian theme, a “naked cake”, many times works best to help pull off the look. Billie added faux pink and blush peonies. She added some additional peonies made with frosting. It really did make for a gorgeous cake.

I was so lucky to have the backdrop in stock as well. I have had it for a while, and I have only used it once…. maybe once. I was able to purchase the lanterns from another Holly Springs small business, Our Moments in Time.
