As a professional photographer, I am so unbelieveably blessed to share so many amazing moments with families. This one is no exception to the rule. I photographed this beautiful couples wedding day in Raleigh last May. I was thrilled to see when they announced to their friends and family they were expecting baby #1. Me, just loving capturing memories and moments, immediately reached out to this couple. I wanted to see if they were doing anything fun, or a gender reveal  when they found out what this little peanut was.

Mommy and I went back and forth with a couple of ideas.. And thought we had made up our minds and I started planning… Then Daddy found something that he liked and wanted to do. Without hesitation we jumped on his great idea and brought the whole thing together! The only thing that could keep us from doing this gender reveal now was weather and making sure that “Baby L” cooperated during the ultrasound to let us know what “it” was.

We were as lucky as we could be with “Baby L” being cooperative and the lab tech told mommy and daddy that it was an obvious gender. I think that made them think one direction.

We considered doing this at this families brand new home, but we decided to meet at Sugg Farm in Holly Springs for this occasion. I brought a blue balloon and a pink balloon. They brought the sealed envelope with the ultrasound picture inside. (I checked to make sure it was sealed 🙂 )  It was then time to execute the plan. I opened the envelope on the floorboard of my car, grabbed one of the balloons and poked lots of holes in it. We then walked across the farm… it seemed like a couple of miles at that point. We were filling the anxious silence with what they thought they were having and what gender everyone else is expecting. Then we arrived at a pretty little spot. I allowed them to pick which balloon they wanted to blow up… Knowing that one of the balloons was not going to blow up. Within seconds they took deep breaths in and watched each other to see if they were having a baby girl to a baby boy…  And the results are in!!
