These little girls have grown up so fast. The last time I saw them was 2 years ago when we met at Sugg Farm in Holly Springs, in a completely different field, and it was gloomy, cold and damp. We were all on edge being worried about if the girls would get some of that good ole North Carolina mud (orange clay) on their white tights. This time around it was nice and dry, even a little hot out.

I loved being able to get photos of the girls with their parents individually. All too often mothers are not getting great photos with their children. There is a reason for that – they are usually the ones behind the camera trying to get pictures of the children. So during every family session, I am sure to get photos of mom and the kids…. because not only does mom deserve to be in the photos but the kids need photos with their mom.

Do you know what other shots are important during a family session? Shots of mom and dad together. Let’s be honest, mom and dad are the foundation of every family. They are important to the dynamics of the family in so many ways. The love between mom and dad is the love that children define their future relationships. I love to get a picture of mom and dad laughing and truly enjoying each other rather than just posing them to the point in which they feel awkward.

No, I didn’t forget about a photo of dad and his girls. I mean, he is in a household full of girls. He deserves that portrait.
