Working with high schoolers for senior portraits is a break from my typical daily grind. I am so used to chasing toddlers to get the shot, or begging for a smile. It’s strange when its really easy. I mean, I ask someone to smile and they do. I give a little bit of instruction and it works. Haha!

We were supposed to have this shoot in early October, but due to illness and a very busy dance schedule, we pushed it back to the end of October. I think it worked in our favor because at the end of October we were able to see the leaves changing colors, which is exactly what this Holly Springs High School senior wanted. Her favorite time of the year is fall. There were a couple of trees that were already completely yellow.

There are so many beautiful places on the greater Raleigh area to have senior portraits done. The top requested location for senior portraits is the stunning Sarah P Duke Gardens in Durham. As you can see in this senior portrait session, it is a lovely location that has so much to offer.

However, being that this young woman is about to be a Holly Springs graduate, Holly Springs is where she wanted to have her session. We picked a new location for me, Veterans Park. It has a small pond, beautiful tree lines and a newly paved walkway that affords us lots of great options for a natural backdrop.

I loved working with Jess and her mom to decide on a senior portrait session that best spoke to who Jess is. If you have been putting off senior portraits, I still have plenty of availability to get them back in time for graduation.
