For the first time ever, we had a Wizard of Oz Cake Smash photography session in the studio and I couldn’t have been more excited about it, and Delaney looked really excited too. Again, I love being able to take some inspiration or an idea and make it a reality. Especially when it’s not a cake smash theme that I have done before.. then add that there aren’t that many ideas out there because others haven’t done one either.

She was slow to try and a little nervous even… but she sure did like this cake.

Ah, let’s talk about this fun and different cake. It was made by the very talented Baked By Billie. We wanted to incorporate rainbows (obviously a play of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow) but didn’t want to overpower the set up with rainbows. By adding the rainbows to the cake it allowed us to keep the same clean, baby focused cake smash session that all of my clients love.

With this cake smash session, I was able to also use this cake stand that I have been able to use only one other time…. the cake stand went perfectly with the ruby red shoes.

She melted my heart with this unexpected pose. She is adorable and she knows it. I can’t stop looking at Toto in the basket too. It was a perfect way to help bring in all of the elements without making the setup too busy.

Feature number 6,508 that I love about this cake smash session is how blue Delaney’s eyes are. There wasn’t any editing on her baby blue eyes at all. I think the blue in the dress helped make her eyes pop even more.

If you have a fun cake smash idea, make sure you book your session so we can make it a reality.
